Thoughts on silver allocation in a Gold IRA? Thinking about adding some to my precious metals mix.
- •Okay, so I've been diving pretty deep into my Gold IRA lately, and it's got me thinking about diversifying *within* the precious metals.

Okay, so I've been diving pretty deep into my Gold IRA lately, and it's got me thinking about diversifying within the precious metals. I pulled the trigger on a Gold IRA about 6 months ago, after watching the market do its thing for way too long. Had about 75k in an old 401k that I rolled over, and I'm currently sitting with mostly gold coins and a few bars. Honestly, it feels good to have that stability, especially being in the music industry here in Nashville. You know how unpredictable gigs can be sometimes!
My initial thought was just to stick with gold, classic safe haven, etc. But lately, I’ve been seeing a lot more discussion about silver. I know the gold-to-silver ratio is a thing, and silver seems to have a lot of industrial demand that gold doesn't. Part of me is thinking about dedicating maybe 10-15% of my precious metals portfolio to silver. Is anyone here doing a significant silver allocation in their IRA? What are your experiences?
I'm not looking to go crazy, just trying to make sure I'm not missing out on potential upside or ignoring another layer of protection. My total IRA portfolio is still under 100k, so I don't have unlimited funds to play with. What are the common recommendations for combining gold and silver in an IRA? Any specific types of silver to look at or avoid within an IRA context? All advice and personal anecdotes welcome!
