Thinking about adding platinum to my IRA - anyone else?
- •My entire adult life I've been in agriculture here in Fresno, and that's ingrained in me – you gotta have real assets, things you can hold onto.
- •My current portfolio is sitting pretty comfortably between $70k-$80k, mostly in physical gold, but I'm starting to wonder about platinum.
- •I've been watching the price of platinum dip and rise, and it feels like it's been lagging behind gold and even silver for a while now.
Been doing a lot of crunching numbers lately, looking at my Gold IRA performance and what else I could be doing to diversify further, especially with all the economic uncertainty swirling around. I've been watching the price of platinum dip and rise, and it feels like it's been lagging behind gold and even silver for a while now. Call me crazy, but it just feels like it's undervalued. You look at its industrial uses, especially in catalytic converters, and the push for hydrogen fuel cells… seems like demand could really spike. Plus, it's just so much rarer than gold. Are any of you guys feeling the same way?
I'm not looking to move a huge chunk, maybe a 10-15% allocation from my existing precious metals, just curious if anyone else on here with a Gold IRA has taken the plunge into platinum. What were your reasons? Did you buy bars or coins? Did you see a good entry point you'd recommend or did you just dollar-cost average in? Would love to hear some real-world experiences before I talk to my custodian about making a move.
