Okay, so I finally pulled the trigger and added some silver to my Gold IRA. For the last two years, since I rolled over about $70k from an old 401k into gold, it’s been 100% gold. Mostly American Gold Eagles, a few Canadian Maples. I work in publishing here in Nashville, and honestly, the market volatility has been making me feel a little seasick lately. My regular portfolio has been… interesting. Gold felt like the stable anchor, which it absolutely has been.
But I was doing a lot of reading lately (late-night rabbit holes, you know how it goes), and kept coming back to silver. It feels like gold's little brother, often follows its movements, but with its own unique industrial demand angle. And, frankly, the entry point for silver per ounce is just so much lower. I’m thinking about the potential for bigger percentage gains if things get really wild. I ended up converting about $15k of my existing gold holdings into some American Silver Eagles and a handful of those cool Royal Canadian Mint wildlife coins.
I guess I’m looking for some validation, or even some constructive criticism! Has anyone else diversified their precious metals IRA this way? Any silver stackers out there who swear by it? I used that Eligibility Checker tool on Gold IRA Blueprint a while back when I first set up my Gold IRA, and it was super helpful to confirm I even could do this given my specific retirement accounts. If you’re even thinking about precious metals, seriously just run through that quick check – it takes literally two minutes to see if you qualify.
My hope is that this adds another layer of diversification and maybe a little more juice to the returns if silver really takes off during an inflationary period. Plus, it just feels good to hold a mix. Are there any other Nashville folks here invested in precious metals? Would be cool to connect with some local gold/silver bugs!
