Been thinking a lot lately about my precious metals allocation and honestly, trying to figure out the right split between gold and silver. I’m sitting on about a $750k portfolio, with a decent chunk already in a Gold IRA. As a business owner here in Memphis, specifically in logistics, I’ve seen enough supply chain chaos to know that physical assets are crucial for hedging against all sorts of craziness – inflation, political instability, you name it.
My current setup is probably 80/20 gold to silver, maybe even 90/10. Historically, that’s felt comfortable. Gold feels like the ultimate safe haven, the big brother you can always rely on. But with all the talk about industrial demand for silver, green energy, and its lower price point, I’m wondering if I’m under-leveraged in silver. I'm starting to think about succession planning for my company, and part of that is making sure my portfolio is as resilient as possible for the longer term.
What are your thoughts on a more aggressive silver allocation? I’ve seen arguments for 50/50, even 60/40 silver. Does anyone here have a higher silver weighting and feel good about it? Is the volatility something you just have to stomach, or are there clever ways to mitigate that with a larger silver holding? Always appreciate hearing from this community.
