Rolling over my late husband's 401k to a Gold IRA - A Bit Nervous But Hopeful (Palladium too!)

Okay, so I finally did it. After months of going back and forth, and honestly, a lot of emotional deliberation, I initiated the rollover of my late husband's 401k into a Gold IRA. It wasn't a huge amount, about $75k, but it represents so much more than just a number to me. He worked so hard for that money, and I just couldn't stand seeing it exposed to all the turbulence in the stock market anymore. Living here in Raleigh, I see all these new developments popping up, and sometimes it feels like everything is just getting more expensive and less stable. I just want to protect what he built for us.
The whole process was actually smoother than I anticipated, once I finally pulled the trigger. The hardest part was just making the decision. I ended up putting a good chunk into physical gold, mostly American Gold Eagles. I also decided to diversify a bit more and put a smaller portion into physical palladium, which is why I'm posting here. Is anyone else invested in palladium in their IRA? What are your thoughts on its long-term potential compared to gold or silver?
My advisor kept talking about inflation and geopolitical risks, and honestly, it resonated with how I've been feeling. Losing my husband was enough of a shock, and I'm not looking for any more unexpected turns with our nest egg. I've been keeping an eye on things, and even checking out tools like the Silver vs Stocks comparison, which really puts into perspective how some of these alternative assets perform over the long haul. It's calming to see some of those trend lines.
I guess I'm looking for some reassurance, and maybe a few pointers from those of you who've been doing this longer. What are some common pitfalls I should watch out for now that the rollover is complete? Any personal experiences with palladium specifically?
