rebalancing portfolio question

Okay, so I've been doing my yearly portfolio rebalance look-over, and I'm staring at my Platinum IRA like it's a puzzle. I rolled over about $300k from my military pension into this thing a few years back, and it's been a real anchor for my financial security, especially living here in San Diego with these housing prices, you know? The platinum has obviously done really well, which is awesome, but it's now a significantly larger chunk of my overall retirement wealth than I initially planned.
My original split was something like 20% precious metals (mostly platinum and some gold), 60% equities, and 20% bonds. Now, after a solid run, the platinum in that IRA is closer to 30% of my total portfolio. Iβm wondering if I should trim some of that gain and reallocate it. On one hand, βdonβt mess with a good thing,β right? Platinum has been a good bet for me. On the other, Iβm a big believer in not getting too concentrated in any one asset, even if it's been performing like gangbusters. Financial security for me means diversification more than anything.
Anyone else faced a similar situation with their precious metals IRAs? Did you trim your winners or let them ride? I'm debating between selling some of the platinum to bring it back down to that 20-25% range, or maybe just adjusting my future contributions to other asset classes to slowly balance it out over time. I was even playing around with that Gold IRA Calculator this morning, just to see hypothetical returns if I shifted some of the platinum to gold or even just cash for a bit. Itβs a good tool for seeing potential outcomes. What are your thoughts on trimming a successful asset from a precious metals IRA? Any advice or experiences would be super helpful!
