Okay, so I'm coming up on the two-year mark with my Gold IRA, and starting to think about rebalancing. I started this thing right when things felt super wonky with inflation and the stock market back in '22. Threw about 60k into it then, partly as a hedge and partly to supplement my government pension down the line. I'm a good 15 years out from retirement, but want to make sure I'm doing all the right things now.
My initial allocation was pretty conservative, mostly American Gold Eagles and some Canadian Maples. I've been watching the spot price like a hawk, obviously, and it's been a wild ride. Honestly, I'm feeling a bit torn because while the value has gone up overall, I'm seeing a lot of chatter about silver's potential too. I'm in Albuquerque, so obviously not near any major precious metals hubs, but I've been reading up a lot.
I'm weighing whether to pivot some of my gold holdings into silver. Like, maybe convert 10-15% of my gold value into something like Silver Eagles or even some bars. The thought is to capture more upside if silver really takes off, but I also don't want to get too greedy and mess with my primary goal of preserving wealth. Anyone here done a significant rebalance from gold to silver within their IRA? Or even just share your thought process on when to rebalance, and what factors you consider?
Feeling a bit of decision fatigue reading all the different opinions online. Would appreciate some real-world experiences or insights from those of you who've been around the block a few times with your precious metals IRAs. What's your gut telling you about gold vs. silver in the current climate?
