Platinum IRA Custodian Fees - What are folks paying?
- •Trying to make sense of these custodian fees for my Platinum IRA and it feels like every company has a different way of nickel-and-diming you.

Trying to make sense of these custodian fees for my Platinum IRA and it feels like every company has a different way of nickel-and-diming you. I'm looking at moving another chunk of my retirement, probably around $100k, into physical platinum, and I want to make sure I'm not overpaying on the holding costs. Right now, on my existing Gold IRA, I'm with Augusta and paying around $250 a year combined for storage and admin on just under $600k. That feels reasonable for what it is, especially given how secure the storage is.
My concern is that some of these platinum custodians seem to have a more complex fee structure, or they quote percentages that can really add up on a $100k+ account. I've seen some flat fees, some tiered, and some that charge extra for certain types of platinum products. Given platinum's volatility lately, I don't want a significant portion of my gains (or even just holding steady) eaten up by fees. The global instability, especially with what's happening in the Indo-Pacific, makes me lean even harder into precious metals, but only if the carrying costs make sense long-term.
For those of you with Platinum IRAs, particularly those with similar portfolio sizes (let's say $50k to $500k in platinum), what kind of annual custodian and storage fees are you seeing? Are there any hidden fees or things to watch out for that aren't immediately obvious in the sales pitch? I'm based here in Honolulu, so I'm already pretty used to looking at things from a long-term, slightly more isolated perspective when it comes to supply chains and financial stability. Any companies you'd highly recommend or strongly advise against?
