Okay, so I’ve been looking into rolling over a portion of my old 401(k) into a Palladium IRA, mainly to add another layer of diversification beyond the gold and silver I already hold. I’m sitting on about $75k in my Gold IRA already, and I’m thinking of putting another $20-$30k into palladium. Problem is, every time I start researching custodians for a Palladium IRA, it feels like I’m hitting brick walls or getting really vague answers.

I work for the state here in Albuquerque, have a pension building up, but I really want to make sure I’m setting myself up for a comfortable retirement. That means supplementing it with smart investments. My current Gold IRA custodian has been fantastic, but they don't really seem to specialize in palladium, or at least they haven’t been super clear on their processes for it. I want a custodian that makes the process smooth from start to finish, from helping me understand the specific IRS rules for palladium to making sure the storage is absolutely rock solid.

Has anyone here gone through the process of setting up a Palladium IRA? What custodians did you use? Any red flags or really positive experiences you can share? I'm honestly feeling a bit overwhelmed by the lack of clear options compared to gold and silver. It's making me wonder if it's even worth the hassle, but the potential benefits of diversification are still nagging at me. Any insights would be hugely appreciated!

Hey, I hear you on the diversification front. But putting $20-30k into palladium, especially after already having a solid gold/silver IRA, feels like a pretty concentrated bet on a relatively volatile metal. Palladium's definitely had its moments, but it's also seen some pretty wild swings. Have you looked into platinum instead? It often tracks gold more closely and might offer a smoother ride for that level of investment, while still giving you that precious metal exposure beyond just gold and silver.

Totally feel this. I went through something similar trying to find a custodian for platinum. Gold and silver were a breeze, but as soon as I mentioned platinum, it was like a whole different ballgame. Ended up going with APMEX Gold IRA, though they did take a bit longer to set up the platinum side of things. Hope you find a good solution!

Interesting! You mentioned palladium for diversification beyond gold and silver you already hold. Are you thinking of holding physical palladium in your IRA, or is there some kind of palladium ETF or other paper asset you're looking at for this?
