Palladium in an IRA? What are your thoughts?
- •Okay, so I'm just getting started with my Gold IRA journey, literally opened it last month.
- •I'm a teacher here in Columbus, and honestly, the thought of diversifying beyond my traditional 401k just sounded smart.
- •I've got about $10k in there right now, mostly in physical gold coins, keeping it simple to wrap my head around.
Okay, so I'm just getting started with my Gold IRA journey, literally opened it last month. I'm a teacher here in Columbus, and honestly, the thought of diversifying beyond my traditional 401k just sounded smart. I've got about $10k in there right now, mostly in physical gold coins, keeping it simple to wrap my head around. But I keep seeing palladium pop up as another option for precious metal IRAs, and it's got me wondering.
My initial thought was sticking to gold and maybe a little silver for now, especially since I'm still learning the ropes. Gold feels like the OG safe haven, you know? I even used that Gold vs Stocks Comparison tool on Gold IRA Blueprint to see how gold's been doing against the S&P 500 over the last 10 years, and it was pretty eye-opening. Gold consistently holds its own, which is reassuring for a long-term play.
But palladium... it seems so much more volatile. Like it has bigger ups but also bigger downs. For a small portfolio like mine, and someone who's just starting out, is that too much risk? Or is it a 'get in early' kind of play that could really pay off if I don't need the money for a long, long time? I’m looking at another 20+ years until retirement.
Has anyone here added palladium to their IRA? What's been your experience? Did you start with it, or add it once your portfolio was larger? Any insights on why it might (or might not) be a good idea for someone like me, just dipping their toes into precious metals, would be super helpful. Trying to learn as much as I can!
