My wife finally came around to gold IRA, so glad I stuck to my guns!

Just wanted to share a little victory here for anyone on the fence or dealing with a skeptical spouse. I’ve been a big believer in gold since the '08 crisis really shook my confidence in the stock market – saw my 403b take a beating and knew I needed some real diversification. Since then, I’ve slowly built up a nice little gold IRA, probably sitting somewhere around $150k now, mostly from rolling over old retirement accounts. My wife, bless her heart, always thought it was a bit… antiquated. "Why not just buy more tech stocks?" she'd say, or "Isn't it just sitting there not making anything?"
Felt like I was constantly explaining the ins and outs of hedging against inflation, geopolitical instability, and just having a tangible asset. I'd bring up what happened to the dollar's purchasing power, or how central banks are buying gold like crazy, but it never quite clicked for her. She's more of a traditional investor, loves her dividend stocks, bless her heart. I'm a retired teacher here in Phoenix, so a steady, secure retirement is paramount for us, and I always felt gold was a key part of that puzzle.
Well, turns out all it took was the news about the ongoing bank instability and the general feeling of uncertainty in the news lately. Suddenly, she's asking me about the price of gold, asking if our investments are "safe." The other day, she actually said, "Maybe that gold IRA of yours wasn't such a bad idea after all." You guys, I nearly fell out of my chair! It was such a relief to finally have her understand the 'why' behind it, rather than just tolerating my "hobby."
It just goes to show, sometimes you've just got to stay firm in your convictions, especially when it comes to protecting your future. Anyone else have a similar experience with a spouse or family member finally seeing the light?
