My wife basically strong-armed me into a Platinum IRA and now I'm actually stoked about it

Okay, so I've been sitting on a pretty conservative portfolio for a while now, mostly a mix of blue-chip stocks and bonds. Nothing exciting, but it's consistent. My family's wealth is mostly tied up in timberland and some real estate around Spokane, so I tend to be pretty risk-averse with my liquid assets. My wife, though, she's always looking for alternative investments. She got really into the whole "platinum is rarer than gold" thing a few months back and started badgering me about moving a chunk of my IRA into a Platinum IRA.
I was super skeptical. Like, why platinum? Gold I get, it's the classic safe haven. But platinum felt a bit niche, maybe even a little trendy, which usually scares me away. She pulled out all the stops – historical charts, industrial demand forecasts, the whole nine yards. She even pointed out how much more industrial demand there is for platinum compared to gold, especially with the push for green tech. I think she spent a solid two weeks just bugging me about it over dinner, bringing it up any chance she got. Finally, just to shut her up, I agreed to move about $75k from my existing IRA into a new Platinum IRA account.
Fast forward a few months, and honestly, I'm genuinely impressed. The value has already seen a decent uptick, nothing crazy, but it's outperformed some of my other holdings in that same timeframe. And the peace of mind knowing I've got a tangible, physical asset sitting there is growing on me. It feels like a smart diversification play, especially with all the economic uncertainty floating around. Plus, my wife is absolutely insufferable now, always reminding me she was right. "Told you so" has become her favorite phrase.
Anyone else been in a similar situation with a spouse convincing them to try something new, only for it to actually pan out? What are your thoughts on platinum specifically as a long-term hold in an IRA? I'm thinking about upping my allocation a bit more next year, maybe another $50k, but curious to hear where others stand.
