Been following this sub for a while so I figured I’d throw my hat in the ring regarding silver stacking. I live in Tulsa and work as a secretary for one of the big oil companies here, and I actually learned a lot about investing in precious metals from some of the VPs and execs. They were always talking about it in the breakroom or during downtime, and honestly, it sounded like a much more stable bet than the stock market, especially with all the ups and downs lately.
I started my silver journey maybe 4ish years ago with around $10,000, probably 70% of which I put into a Silver IRA right away. The rest I kept physical for emergencies or just for the peace of mind. Fast forward to today, and I've slowly but surely built that up to almost $50,000 in silver, mostly through regular contributions from my paychecks and rolling over a bit from an old 401k. I know it's not a huge amount compared to some people here, but it feels like a decent chunk for me right now, especially as a single earner. Most of it is still in the IRA, with maybe $7,000-$8,000 in physical bars and rounds that I keep at home.
My strategy has always been pretty simple: dollar-cost averaging into the Silver IRA, and then buying a little extra physical when I see a dip or have some unexpected cash. The goal is long-term wealth preservation and a hedge against inflation. I'm not really looking to get rich quick, just want to make sure my retirement isn't entirely dependent on traditional paper assets.
I'm curious, for those who've been stacking longer, what are your thoughts on this approach? Should I be diversifying into platinum or palladium more within the IRA? Also, as someone in Oklahoma, any tips on reputable local dealers for physical silver beyond the usual online places? The ones I've found seem a bit overpriced.
