Just wanted to share my recent experience rolling over an old 401k into a Palladium IRA, especially since I've seen a few questions about it lately. For context, I had about $60k sitting in an old employer's 401k that was just… doing nothing. Frankly, with everything going on in the world, I've become a lot more community-focused here in Boise, and I wanted my investments to reflect a bit more stability and protection from the craziness. Heard good things about precious metals and decided to look into Palladium after some research.
The whole process was surprisingly straightforward. I picked a reputable Gold IRA company (definitely did my homework there, called a few places) and they basically held my hand through the entire thing. Filled out some paperwork for the rollover, they contacted my old 401k administrator, and within a few weeks, the funds were in my new self-directed IRA account. From there, I worked with their specialist to select the Palladium coins and bars. It was actually kind of exciting choosing the physical assets, knowing they're now securely stored at a depository. I felt a lot more in control of my retirement savings than I ever did with a traditional portfolio.
The total time from my first call to having the Palladium purchased and stored was about a month and a half. No crazy fees I wasn't expecting, and the communication throughout was excellent. As a mayor in a small town, juggling a million things, the low-stress nature of the whole deal was a huge plus for me. I just felt it was important to diversify outside of purely paper assets, and Palladium felt like a smart move given its industrial demand and scarcity.
Anyone else here go the Palladium route instead of just gold or silver? What were your reasons? And for those still on the fence, what are your biggest concerns about making a similar move?
