Feeling pretty good about my gold allocation right now

Just wanted to share a little bit of a positive anecdote here, hoping it resonates with some of you or maybe encourages those on the fence. I've been a doctor here in Boston for a while now, and over the past 8-10 years, I've steadily built up a decent portion of my 401k/IRA into physical gold. We're talking probably around 10-15% of my 750k portfolio, so a chunky amount. I remember getting a lot of sideways glances from my financial advisor back in the day, always pushing me towards more "growth-oriented" tech stocks, especially when the market was on its wild bull run.
But honestly, with all the geopolitical craziness lately, and just the general instability in the markets, I'm genuinely feeling pretty good about that decision. The peace of mind alone is worth a lot. While some of my other investments have been... a learning experience recently, my gold has been a solid performer. It's not about getting rich quick, but about preserving wealth and having a hedge against inflation and uncertainty. It’s been a great ballast for the whole portfolio, and I honestly think it's helped me sleep better at night.
Anyone else feeling this way about their precious metals holdings? I know some folks have much higher allocations, and others are strictly against it. Just curious about other people's experiences, especially with the current economic climate. Did you stick to your guns when others doubted you?
And for anyone new to this or looking to deepen their understanding, I've found a ton of helpful articles and breakdowns on the Learning Center at Gold IRA Blueprint. Seriously, if you're like me and want to understand the ins and outs of this asset class beyond just "buy low, sell high," it's a fantastic resource for due diligence.
