Gold IRA for a smaller portfolio - worth it? And company recs?

Okay, so I've been lurking on this sub for a while, and finally dipping my toes into the gold IRA world. I'm a government employee here in Albuquerque, mid-40s, and honestly feeling like my pension isn't going to be quite enough for the retirement I actually want. So, I'm trying to be proactive and build up some savings outside of the usual 401k/TSP. I've got about $75k that I'm looking to roll over from an old 401k into a gold IRA, thinking it's a solid hedge against inflation and general market craziness.
My main concern is that it's not a huge amount compared to some of the portfolios I see people discussing here. Are there specific companies that are better for "smaller" investors like me? I'm worried about getting hit with disproportionately high fees or not getting the same level of service as someone moving a million bucks. I've seen Augusta Precious Metals and Goldco mentioned a lot, but do they cater to portfolios in the $50-100k range, or are they more for the big whales? And any insight into their fee structures for that size would be super helpful.
Also, I'm pretty new to this, so I'm looking for a company with really good customer support and clear communication. I don't want to feel like I'm just a number. Any companies that stand out for their educational resources or helping newbies navigate the process? I'm trying to understand all the ins and outs of custodians, storage, and types of metals. It's a lot to take in, and frankly, it feels a bit overwhelming at times.
Any advice or recommendations from those of you who have been through this, especially with a similar portfolio size, would be greatly appreciated. What was your experience like, and who did you end up going with? What are the red flags to watch out for? Thanks in advance, everyone!
