Just wanted to share my experience with rolling over my old 401k into a Gold IRA. I’ve been sitting on that 401k from my military days, watching the market do its thing, and honestly, felt a bit exposed. After serving for 20 years, financial security is a huge priority for me and my family, especially living here in San Diego with the cost of living.
I had about $300k in that old 401k, and the thought of all of it being tied to the fluctuating stock market was starting to weigh on me. Did a lot of research, talked to a few different companies, and ultimately decided to work with Augusta Precious Metals for a direct rollover. The process itself was surprisingly smooth. They guided me through the paperwork, and honestly, it felt a lot less complicated than I anticipated. I decided to allocate a good chunk of that into physical gold, with a little silver for diversification.
Now, seeing that physical metal stored away, it just gives me a different kind of peace of mind. It’s not about getting rich quick, it’s about preserving what I’ve worked so hard for. With all the talk about inflation and economic uncertainty, having a portion of my retirement in something tangible feels like a smart move. Has anyone else done a similar rollover recently? What was your experience like?
