Finally seeing the light with my Palladium IRA

Okay, so I’ve been lurking on here for a while, mostly reading your guys' posts and trying to figure things out, but after this past year, I just had to share something. I started my Palladium IRA back in 2018. I’m a nurse here in Seattle, and honestly, the thought of putting such a big chunk of my hard-earned money into something that felt a little… esoteric? It was nerve-wracking. I started with about $60,000, which felt like a massive commitment at the time. My main goal was just security for retirement, you know, something outside the usual stock market roller coaster.
For the first few years, it felt like I was just watching paint dry. Palladium had its ups and downs, but it never really felt like the "safe haven" everyone talked about. I remember looking at my statements and thinking, "Did I make a mistake? Was this whole thing just a glorified shiny rock purchase?" There were definitely moments of doubt, especially when my friends were bragging about their tech stocks blowing up. I even considered selling off a portion and diversifying more into something else, but I stuck with it, mostly because I just didn't want to admit I might have made a bad call.
But man, this last year or so? It’s been a totally different story. My initial $60k investment is now pushing closer to $95k, and that’s after only about five years. It’s not "get rich quick" money, but it's a significant gain, and it feels incredibly validating. The peace of mind knowing that a good chunk of my retirement is in a physical asset, especially with all the economic uncertainty flying around, is truly priceless for me. It’s definitely cemented my belief in having some precious metals in the mix.
I guess I just wanted to put this out there for anyone who might be feeling discouraged, or on the fence about starting a precious metals IRA. It really can pay off in the long run if you're patient. For those who’ve been in it longer than me, what kind of timelines did you see before you felt like your investments really started to mature? And for anyone just starting out, what’s your biggest concern right now?
