Been a pretty wild ride these past few years, especially with everything going on. As a contractor, I'm always thinking about security, not just in my work but with my money too. That's why I went pretty heavy into a Gold IRA originally, but diversified with some Palladium back in 2020. I remember putting in about $35k into palladium back then out of my overall roughly $180k portfolio, wanting a bit more industrial exposure than pure gold.
For a while there, it felt like it was just… sitting. Gold was doing its thing, but palladium was kind of flat-lining, even dip a bit. A couple of buddies at work, bless their hearts, kept chirping about their tech stocks exploding, and I'll admit, I had a few moments of "maybe I messed up here." Living here in Jax, it’s easy to get caught up in the local real estate frenzy or whatever else is popping, but I stuck to my guns with the precious metals because, fundamentally, I believe in their long-term value, especially when the global economy feels like it's on shaky ground.
Fast forward to now, and it's a completely different story. Palladium has really started to shine. Watching those numbers tick up has been a serious relief, and honestly, a bit of a vindication. My initial ~$35k from 2020 is looking a lot healthier, probably up around 40-50% on that specific chunk now. It’s not "get rich quick" money, but it’s solid, dependable growth that makes me feel a lot more secure about my retirement down the line. That sense of security is huge for me.
Anyone else here feeling good about their palladium lately? Or did I just get lucky with my timing back in 2020? What are people's thoughts on where it goes from here, especially with the push for more green tech and industrial demand? Should I consider rebalancing some of these gains back into gold or even a little silver, or just let it ride?
