Been a lurker on this sub for a while, figured it was time to share a little success story instead of just soaking up everyone else's wisdom. I started my Palladium IRA back around 2018. As a nurse here in Seattle, I wanted something beyond the standard stocks and bonds for retirement security. Always felt a bit uneasy putting all my eggs in the traditional basket, especially after seeing how volatile things could get. I'd heard about precious metals IRAs and after a lot of research, decided palladium was an interesting niche, even with its higher price point. I started with about $50k from a rollover and added another $25k here and there over the next couple of years.
Honestly, those first few years felt like watching paint dry. There were times I wondered if I'd made the right choice, especially when the market was booming for other assets. But I kept reminding myself why I got into it – long-term security, a hedge against inflation, and diversification. I wasn't looking for a get-rich-quick scheme. Fast forward to now, and I’m really starting to see some solid gains. Nothing crazy, but that initial ~$75k investment is looking a lot closer to $100k+, depending on the day. It's not just the monetary gain, it's the peace of mind that comes with having a tangible asset that isn't directly tied to the whims of the stock market. That feeling is priceless when you're thinking about retirement.
Anyone else in a similar boat with their Palladium or other precious metals IRA? What's your biggest takeaway from years of investing in these kinds of assets? I'm always curious to hear different perspectives. It’s comforting to know there are others out there who believe in holding physical assets as part of their retirement strategy.
