Fed held rates steady - whew! My tiny gold IRA breathes a sigh of relief (mostly)

Okay, so the Fed just held rates steady, which honestly, is a pretty big relief. As a newbie to the gold IRA game, every little tremor in the market feels like an earthquake. I've only got about $10k stashed away so far – just started this year – and I'm watching it like a hawk. I'm a teacher here in Columbus, so every penny I put into this is hard-earned. A rate hike right now would've just felt like another punch to the gut with everything else going on.
I know gold is supposed to be a hedge against inflation and all that, but it still feels so interconnected to everything else, especially interest rates. When rates go up, the dollar usually gets stronger, and that theoretically makes gold less attractive because it doesn't pay interest. I'm trying to wrap my head around all these dynamics, but it's a lot! My main goal is just some long-term stability and diversification away from my 403b, which feels a little too tied to the stock market's whims these days.
What do you all think this "hold" means for gold in the short term? Are we expecting a continued sideways movement, or do you think this gives it a bit of a boost? I'm trying to decide if now's a good time to potentially add a little more to my gold IRA or if I should hold off. I'm aiming to get to about $25k in over the next few years, so every decision feels kinda amplified right now. Any seasoned investors out there with thoughts on how the Fed's decision might ripple through the precious metals market?
Side note: I'm really enjoying learning more about this whole space. It's a steep learning curve, but so far, it feels like a really smart move, even with my small portfolio. Just gotta navigate these economic waters carefully!
