Just wanted to share my initial thoughts on setting up a Gold IRA, specifically with Augusta Precious Metals. I’m a small business owner here in Denver, and honestly, the whole stock market volatility lately has been making me a little antsy about my retirement savings. I’ve got about $75k in my portfolio that I decided to roll over, and frankly, the past few years have made me feel like I needed something more tangible.
I looked at a few different companies, but Augusta really stood out with their educational approach. I went through their online conference, and even though it was a few hours, it actually felt worthwhile. They really dug into the economic stuff and why precious metals are even a thing for retirement accounts. What sealed the deal for me was their transparency about fees and the no-pressure sales vibe. I was fully expecting a hard sell, but it was more like "here's the info, think about it." Also, their customer service has been super responsive, which is a huge deal for me.
The whole process of rolling over my old IRA was surprisingly smooth. I was picturing tons of paperwork and a headache, but their team pretty much held my hand through it all. It took about three weeks from my initial contact to having everything finalized and the metals purchased and ready for storage. It’s pretty reassuring knowing I’ve got actual physical gold and silver allocated to my name now, especially with all the news about inflation and whatnot. I sleep a little easier, for sure.
Anyone else here go with Augusta? Or did you choose a different custodian? What was your experience like? I'm still relatively new to this, so any insights or things I should keep an eye on would be great!
