Hey, so I've been doing a ton of research lately looking into adding palladium to my precious metals IRA. I've had a solid gold IRA for a few years now with another provider, but I'm looking to diversify a bit more. Palladium's looking mighty interesting right now given its industrial uses and supply constraints, especially with the direction the auto industry is headed.

I'm currently sitting on about $350k in my overall portfolio, with a decent chunk already in gold, and I'm a tenured professor here in Richmond, so research is kinda my thing. I've been poring over custodian reviews, and Augusta Precious Metals keeps coming up. Their educational resources seem top-notch, and the general consensus online points to great customer service. I'm especially keen on finding a custodian that's super transparent with fees and has a smooth process for adding new metals. I've had a few annoying hiccups in the past with hidden charges from other financial institutions, and I really don't want to deal with that again.

Has anyone here used Augusta specifically for a palladium IRA? What was your experience like? Were the fees competitive? Did they make the process straightforward? I'm also open to other recommendations if you've had a fantastic experience with a different custodian for palladium. I'm looking to put around $50k into palladium for now, so finding a reliable and efficient partner is key. Any insights would be massively appreciated!

I’ve been with Augusta for my Gold IRA since late 2021, and while their silver offerings are strong, I actually went with JM Bullion for my palladium holdings. The premium on palladium through the IRA providers I vetted, including Augusta, just felt a bit steep compared to what I could get directly through JM and store privately. It’s a different risk profile, sure, but with the chunk of change I have in my precious metals (just shy of 7 figures across everything), I'm always looking for that fractional percentage impact.

Whoa, this is timely! I was just looking into this myself. My gold IRA is with Augusta, and they've been great, but I've been eyeing palladium as well. Had a similar thought about diversifying beyond just gold and silver. I haven't pulled the trigger on palladium yet, but I'm curious to see what others recommend or if anyone has experience with Augusta for palladium specifically.

Hey, that's interesting you're looking into palladium. I've mostly heard of people sticking with gold/silver for IRAs. When you say "industrial uses and suppl" – what specific industries or supply factors are making it look so appealing to you right now?

Interesting you're looking at palladium! While it certainly has its industrial merits, have you considered platinum instead for diversification? Historically, it's often had a more stable role alongside gold, and given the current market, it might offer a different kind of hedge than palladium. Just a thought to throw into the mix!

Interesting thread! I'm still relatively new to my Gold IRA, just moved about $75k into it with Augusta last year after splitting off some old 401k funds. The palladium angle is new to me though – are the storage fees typically the same as gold and silver, or do they fluctuate more given its rarity? I'm in Philly, and always looking for ways to diversify my precious metals allocation beyond just the usual suspects.

That's an interesting question, OP. I actually looked into Palladium myself a few years back when I was really starting to diversify my retirement beyond just gold. I'm in Cleveland, and the local coin shop guys were pushing platinum pretty hard too, but my gut kept telling me to stick to the tried and true. I had about $300k in my IRA at the time, and after seeing some of the volatility, decided against anything too niche. The big push for me to really solidify my precious metals position actually came from my wife's uncle, who lived through some pretty wild inflation back in the 70s. He always drilled into me the importance of having something tangible. That’s when I finally pulled the trigger on a substantial gold allocation, using a company similar to Augusta, though not them specifically. I actually ran a bunch of scenarios on the IRA Calculator at https://calculator.goldirablueprint.com/?forum around that time, and seeing the long-term projections for gold’s stability really sealed the deal for me. It's

Interesting to hear about Augusta Precious Metals. I just opened my first Gold IRA last year, mostly with Lear Capital after looking at a few different options. Still feeling pretty new to all this, but I'm curious if anyone who has used them for palladium would recommend them specifically for that or if the general gold IRA experience translates. My initial thought was just to diversify within gold and silver, but palladium is definitely something I've been reading up on more lately.

Totally agree with this! I rolled over an old 401k a couple years back, about $75k of it, into a Gold IRA with Augusta Precious Metals. Was a bit hesitant at first, you know, being in Little Rock and dealing with a company out of state, but their team was excellent. The whole process was smooth, and they definitely set the bar high for customer service. I haven't ventured into Palladium myself, but if their gold services are anything to go by, I'd say you're in safe hands.

This thread has been a goldmine (pun intended!) I've been eyeing palladium for a while, holding a significant chunk in gold and silver through Augusta myself for the past seven years – since my portfolio hit the 750k mark and I wanted more than just stocks. Appreciate everyone sharing their experiences and especially the insights on diversifying beyond just the traditional precious metals. Looks like I've got some more research to do this weekend in Detroit!

Palladium is an interesting one for sure, it's something I've looked at but haven't pulled the trigger on myself yet. When I set up my Gold IRA a few years back, I went with Augusta Precious Metals for the gold and silver side of things. My portfolio is probably in the higher end of the 50-100k range now, and honestly, the process was pretty smooth from my little corner here in Boise. I remember being a bit overwhelmed with all the custodians and storage options, but their team was super patient walking me through the fees and setting up the account with Equity Trust. I even had a couple of follow-up questions months later about some market fluctuations and they were still really responsive, which was a pleasant surprise after the initial sale.
