Okay, so I've been doing a deep dive into potentially adding palladium to my IRA. I pulled the trigger on a Gold IRA about 5 years ago when I saw the writing on the wall with inflation and the general economic instability, and honestly, it’s been a great decision for diversification. Now, with the whole EV battery thing and industrial demand, palladium is looking mighty attractive as another hedge. My current Gold IRA custodian has been… fine. Not amazing, not terrible, just kind of baseline, you know? With half a mil in my retirement portfolio, I want to make sure I'm doing my due diligence.
I’m specifically looking for custodians that handle palladium with good storage options. I’m based in Portland, OR, so ideally, something with a reputable facility that isn't across the country, but I'm flexible for the right fit. When I was still a bank manager, I saw plenty of people get burned by hidden fees and opaque processes, so I'm hyper-sensitive to that. Anything that felt too pushy or salesy immediately turned me off about my current custodian, even though their fees are decent.
Anyone here have first-hand experience with custodians for a Palladium IRA? What are the typical annual fees you're seeing for storage and administration? More importantly, any red flags to watch out for? I've heard some horror stories about people getting stuck with less-than-ideal buyback options down the line, and I definitely want to avoid that. Any specific recommendations or, conversely, places to absolutely avoid would be super helpful.
Just trying to make an informed decision here before I move another significant chunk of my investments. Thanks in advance for any insights!
