Okay, so I've been wrestling with this for a while now. Got a chunk of my retirement savings set aside for physical metals – specifically looking into Palladium for a good bit of it. Been happy with my Gold IRA for years, but Palladium's a different beast in terms of availability and storage options from what I'm seeing. My current Gold outfit doesn't really do much with Palladium, or at least not at a price point I'm comfortable with.

I'm looking to roll over maybe $150k-$200k into a Palladium IRA. Main thing I'm focused on is finding a custodian that handles palladium smoothly, has reasonable fees (especially for storage!), and good customer service. I’ve seen some pretty wild fee structures out there, and as someone who’s spent 30+ years in the dairy industry keeping a tight ledger, those fees really stick in my craw. Some of these outfits seem like they're trying to milk you dry just for holding your metal.

Based in Madison, WI, so not looking for anything super local necessarily, but just a solid, reputable firm. Anyone here have a Palladium IRA and can share their custodian experience? What should I be looking out for? Any providers that blew your expectations out of the water, or ones I should steer clear of like bad milk? Looking for real-world feedback on things like ease of setting up an account, transparency of fees, and how responsive they are to questions. Thanks in advance for any insights!

Oh man, I totally get this. I went down a similar rabbit hole last year. Had a pretty smooth experience with my gold custodian for years, but when I started looking into palladium, it felt like a whole other ball game. Fees were definitely my biggest hang-up too. Ended up finding a smaller, more specialized custodian that offered a much more transparent fee structure for palladium storage than the big guys. It's out there, just takes some digging!

Interesting, I've primarily seen discussions around Gold and Silver IRAs. What makes you lean towards Palladium specifically for a "good bit" of your metals portfolio? Is it just diversification, or are there other factors you're considering?

Honestly, while Palladium is definitely interesting, I'd probably just stick to gold and silver for an IRA. The fee structure for Palladium IRAs can be a real killer, and the market for it isn't always as liquid as gold. You're already diversified with gold, why not just build on that instead of adding more complexity (and potentially higher fees) with Palladium?

Totally get the concern about Palladium IRA custodians and fees, it's a valid worry! Since you're already familiar with Gold IRAs, a good starting point might be to check if your current Gold IRA custodian also offers Palladium. Sometimes using the same provider can streamline things and potentially lead to better fee structures for holding multiple precious metals.

Also, when comparing custodians, don't just look at the direct storage fees. Ask about transaction fees for purchasing/selling Palladium, annual account maintenance fees, and even potential insurance costs. Those can sometimes sneak up on you. Good luck with your research!
