Wife finally on board with Gold IRA after some convincing. Anyone else have similar experiences?

Been eyeing a Gold IRA for a while now, mostly for the diversification and the hedge against inflation. Coming from a tech background out here in SF, I've seen enough cycles to know that putting all your eggs in one basket, even a high-growth one, is a recipe for anxiety. My portfolio's hovering around the lower end of the $500k mark, mostly equities, and while it's done well, I just wanted some tangible assets.
My wife, however, was a tough sell. She's more comfortable with the traditional market, saw gold as a "boomer" investment, and kept bringing up the lack of immediate dividends. I’m talking months of casual conversations, sending her articles, even showing her some of the more detailed analyses of gold's performance during economic downturns. What finally seemed to click for her was when I framed it as a long-term stability play, something for our future, especially with talks of inflation picking up again. I highlighted how it’s not about getting rich quick, but about preserving capital when everything else is going sideways. She’s focused on our eventual retirement and the kids’ college funds, so framing it as a way to protect those future goals really hit home.
We finally pulled the trigger on a fairly conservative allocation, maybe 10-15% of the total portfolio, moving some funds from a few underperforming tech stocks. The process itself was smooth, didn't feel as cumbersome as I thought it might be. Now she's actually reading up on it herself, sending me articles about why it was a smart move. It's pretty wild to see the shift. Anyone else have to really work to get their spouse or significant other on board with alternative investments like this? What finally convinced them?
