Hey everyone, been lurking for a while and finally decided to post. So, like a lot of us here, I'm building my retirement nest egg with a good chunk in a Gold IRA, but I also diversified into a smaller Platinum IRA about 3 years ago. My goal is to eventually have a healthy mix for retirement, and being a real estate agent in this Miami market, every penny counts. I currently have roughly $180k spread across my precious metals IRAs, with about $30k of that in platinum. The rest is in gold and a tiny bit of silver.
Lately, I've been looking at the numbers and wondering if I should rebalance. Platinum's had some good runs, but it also feels a bit more volatile than my gold. I'm not looking to panic sell or anything, but with some of the economic headwinds I'm seeing from talking to clients, a more conservative lean is starting to feel right. It makes me think about possibly scaling back my platinum allocation and perhaps boosting my gold position, or even just holding more cash in the IRA for future opportunities.
I was playing around with that "Gold vs Stocks Comparison" tool on goldirablueprint.com (specifically looking at the 10-year view) and it really highlights the long-term stability gold can offer, even against the S&P 500. Not that I'm considering going all in on gold, but it definitely reinforced my initial conviction. For those of you with platinum in your IRAs, how do you manage your allocations? Do you rebalance often, or just let it ride? Any thoughts on platinum's outlook for the next 5-10 years? Would love to hear some differing perspectives.
