Thinking about Platinum: Is it the next big move for precious metals?
- •Been seeing a lot of chatter lately about platinum and it's got me wondering.

Been seeing a lot of chatter lately about platinum and it's got me wondering. I’ve had the bulk of my portfolio, probably around $700k right now, tied up in gold for the last two decades. Saw some good runs, saw some dips, but overall it’s been a rock-solid foundation for my retirement after 30 years with Ford. My Gold IRA especially has been a steady earner.
I know this is the Silver Coins sub, but you guys are savvy about all precious metals, so I figured I’d ask. With gold at these levels and frankly, feeling a little… stagnant… compared to where it was running a few months ago, I'm starting to think about diversifying a bit. I’m comfortable with gold, but my gut is telling me there might be an opportunity with platinum. It’s been trading pretty low compared to gold for a while now, and with increasing industrial demand, especially in things like hydrogen fuel cells and catalytic converters (something I know a thing or two about from my time in the auto industry), it feels like it could be undervalued.
Am I crazy for thinking this? I’m based out of Detroit, so I'm always plugged into the auto sector, and the push for cleaner tech makes platinum’s industrial uses really stand out to me. Are any of you long-time investors holding platinum? What's your take on its potential right now? Are we looking at a significant upside, or is it just wishful thinking on my part?
