Hey everyone, Ruth here from Albuquerque! You guys have seen me around a bit, usually talking about my Gold IRA strategy for supplementing my government pension. Well, I'm here today to chat about something new I've done: adding silver to that IRA. It's not something I originally planned, but after a lot of late-night research and some number crunching, I finally pulled the trigger.
My Gold IRA is holding strong, and that's still my primary focus for long-term stability and protecting my retirement from inflation. But after seeing the price of silver dip a bit last year – I'm talking around $22/ounce when I started seriously looking – I couldn’t help but feel like it was a missed opportunity. I ended up converting about 10% of a recent bonus into silver coins for my IRA, getting a mix of American Silver Eagles and some Canadian Maple Leafs. My thought process was, "Gold is great for stability, but silver might have more room to grow percentagewise from its current spot if the economy gets wobbly." What do you all think about that kind of diversification within precious metals?
I know some folks just stick to gold, and I totally get that. But for me, even though my initial investment was just shy of $5,000 in silver, the idea of having that extra hedge and potential upside felt right. I spent a fair amount of time digging through articles and videos, especially looking at the industrial demand for silver. I found the Learning Center at Gold IRA Blueprint super helpful for really understanding the market dynamics between gold and silver – they have some great resources there if you're curious about this stuff!
So, for those of you who have a precious metals IRA, have any of you added silver to your holdings? If so, what was your main reason? And if you've decided against it, I'd love to hear your reasoning too. Always good to hear different perspectives!
