So, I pulled the trigger and added some silver to my Gold IRA this week! For those who've been following my previous posts, you know I'm a small business owner here in Denver, and I've been slowly building up a Gold IRA over the past year. I started with about $50k in gold, and I've been feeling pretty good about that, especially with all the economic uncertainty lately.
My initial thought was to just stick with gold, keep it simple. But after doing a bunch of research – and honestly, spending a few late nights down the rabbit hole – I decided that adding silver was a no-brainer for diversification. I mean, it's still precious metals, but it behaves a little differently and has that industrial demand angle which makes it interesting. I ended up putting about $15,000 into silver coins, which brings my total portfolio closer to the $65k mark. My goal is to eventually hit that $100k sweet spot, and I feel like silver is a solid step towards that.
The whole process was actually pretty smooth. I worked with the same custodian I used for my gold. My big question for the community now is: what are your thoughts on the gold-to-silver ratio for IRAs? I've seen a lot of different opinions out there. Did I do enough, or should I be looking at increasing my silver allocation even more in the future? Any other small business owners out there who have diversified their precious metals IRAs? I’m always keen to hear what others are doing.
By the way, for anyone just getting started or still trying to figure out the ropes, I found the Learning Center super helpful. Seriously, it breaks down a lot of the jargon and different options in a really digestible way. Definitely worth checking out if you're feeling overwhelmed like I was at the beginning. Would love to hear if others have found good resources!
