Silver coins as a recession hedge? Been seeing some

I've been kicking around the idea of putting more into silver coins. Seen a few posts lately and it's got me thinking. I've been in gold for over 20 years now, mostly physical, but also a decent chunk in my IRA. Started dabbling back when I was still working at Ford, even before the big 2008 crash. That was a rough one, even for us who saw it coming, but gold definitely cushioned the blow for my portfolio.
My current spread is pretty heavily weighted towards gold, probably 85-90% of my precious metals holdings. The rest is mainly some junk silver I picked up over the years for fun, not really serious investing. My total portfolio is probably hitting close to $800k now, retirement savings mostly, and living off that plus my pension. With all the chatter about a potential recession coming down the pike, I'm feeling that familiar itch to make sure I'm as protected as possible.
I was looking at this "Gold vs Stocks Comparison" tool – https://goldvsstocks.goldirablueprint.com/?period=10Y – earlier today and it really highlights how gold has performed against the S&P 500 over longer periods, especially during downturns. Made me wonder if silver, particularly in coin form, offers a similar, or even better, hedge against inflation and economic instability right now. The lower price point compared to gold is attractive for stacking and easier divisibility for smaller transactions if things really hit the fan, though I hope it never comes to that for real. I'm just trying to be prudent, you know?
So, for those of you who are more into silver, especially silver coins, what's your take? Is now a good time to be buying? What types of coins are you favoring? I’m thinking about starting with some American Silver Eagles or Canadian Maples. Any thoughts on premiums right now? It feels like they've been a bit high, but maybe that's just the new normal. Any wisdom from the crowd would be appreciated.
