Rolling over to a Gold IRA - timeline expectations?

Thinking about finally pulling the trigger on a 401k to Gold IRA rollover and just trying to get a feel for the timeline from anyone who’s done it. My company plan (casino industry, been with the same place for almost 25 years) has honestly been pretty good, but with all the craziness going on, I’m getting more and more uncomfortable having too many eggs in the stock market basket. I’ve probably got around $200k in there, and the idea of diversifying into physical gold just feels… smarter right now, especially living in Vegas where everything is always so boom-or-bust.
I’ve done a decent amount of research, looked at the Gold vs Stocks Comparison tool which really laid out how gold has performed, and it's given me a lot to think about. I’ve talked to a couple of Gold IRA companies and they all give slightly different estimates for the whole process. One said as little as 2 weeks, another said up to 6 or even 8 weeks. That’s a pretty big spread, and I'm a stickler for understanding the risks and timelines with anything financial. Does anyone have real-world experience with how long it actually takes from starting the paperwork to seeing that gold actually secured in the vault?
I'm looking at a direct rollover, so no messing around with a distribution check in my hand. From what I gather, that should simplify things a bit? Just curious about any snags or delays people hit. Like, did your old 401k administrator drag their feet? Or was the new Gold IRA custodian super quick with setup? Any specific questions I should be asking either side to make sure this goes as smoothly and quickly as possible? I understand every situation is different, but a general feel would be great. Thanks in advance for any insights!
