Rolled over a chunk of my old 401k into a Gold IRA

Been lurking here for a while, mostly reading up on what folks are doing with their precious metals. Finally pulled the trigger myself a few months back. I had an old 401k from a previous gig, sitting there getting battered around by the market. Nothing massive, maybe $150kish that I wasn't actively contributing to anymore, just sort of... existing. With all the economic buzz lately, especially with inflation sticking around like a bad hangover, I started getting that familiar twitch in my gut.
My family's been in spirits for generations, you know, legacy businesses, things that stand the test of time. That mindset definitely influences how I view investments. Stocks are great and all, but they feel so abstract sometimes. Gold, though? That's real, tangible wealth. So, I spent a good few weeks researching Gold IRA companies, reading reviews, and trying to cut through all the sales speak. Ended up going with one that seemed reputable and had good customer service – they actually picked up the phone when I called, which is more than I can say for some others. The process of rolling it over honestly wasn't as complicated as I thought it would be, mostly just paperwork and a lot of waiting for funds to transfer.
Now I've got a decent chunk of that old 401k sitting in physical gold and silver, diversified between a few different coin types. It’s a weight off my shoulders, honestly. Knowing a portion of my retirement isn't tied directly to the whims of the stock market gives me a lot more peace of mind, especially with everything going on globally. Plus, as a guy from Lexington, I appreciate things with a bit of history and staying power, and gold definitely fits that bill.
Anyone else here made a similar move recently? What are your thoughts on the current market and how PMs fit into your long-term strategy? Also, any Kentucky folks here holding physical? Always curious to hear what other investors around here are doing.
