Recession-proofing my portfolio with Platinum IRA - Omaha investor checking in

Been seeing a lot of chatter lately about a potential recession hitting in the next year or two, and it's definitely got me thinking about my own portfolio. I'm an insurance agent here in Omaha, and while I have a pretty diversified retirement strategy including stocks and real estate, I'm always looking for ways to shore things up. I've had about $150k in a Gold IRA for the past 5 years or so, and it honestly just sits there as a solid, comforting anchor during volatile times. I initially went with gold because everyone talks about it, but now I'm starting to wonder if I should be expanding into other precious metals, specifically platinum.
My thinking is, if we do see a serious downturn, having a broader range of physical assets could be a smart move. Platinum's got industrial uses, which I know can make it more volatile than gold, but it also has that rarity factor. I'm not looking to move all my assets, maybe just reallocate about 10-15% of my existing Gold IRA into a Platinum IRA. The thought of adding another layer of "recession insurance" really appeals to me right now. I don't want to be caught flat-footed like some folks were back in '08.
For those of you who have platinum in your IRAs, what's your experience been like, especially during economic uncertainty? Did you feel it offered different protection than gold? Are there any specific custodians or aspects of the process I should be extra mindful of when moving into platinum? Any words of wisdom from fellow investors on this subreddit would be greatly appreciated. I'm doing my own research, of course, but hearing from real people is always the most valuable.
