I've been watching my Platinum IRA closely lately, especially with all the talk about inflation picking up. I started my Platinum IRA about three years ago, primarily because I'm a government employee here in Albuquerque, and I wanted a rock-solid supplement to my pension down the line. I put about $75k into it initially, just feeling like the market was getting a little too frothy and I needed some real inflation protection.
So far, I'd say it's performed pretty much as expected. It's not like my tech stocks where you see wild swings, but it's held its value really well, even when broader markets dip. It feels like a genuine safe haven. I’m not really looking for massive growth, just preservation of purchasing power. The thought of my retirement savings losing significant value to inflation after working for decades is just… disheartening, to say the least.
I’m curious how others are feeling about platinum as an inflation hedge right now. Are you seeing similar stability? What other assets are you using alongside your Platinum to protect against inflation? I've considered adding a bit more, maybe another $10k or $15k this year, if I can swing it with my other expenses. I’m thinking about what other strategies people are using. Are any of you looking at things like TIPS, or even real estate, in conjunction with your precious metals?
It's definitely a long-term play for me, aiming to have a solid cushion when I eventually retire. Just trying to make sure I'm not missing any angles here as things get a bit more uncertain economically. Any insights or experiences would be awesome to hear!
