I'm trying to get a handle on the custodian aspect of my Platinum IRA, and frankly, it's a bit overwhelming. My late husband, bless his heart, was always the one who handled the deeper financial stuff. We had a pretty decent nest egg, about $75k in a mix of IRAs, but since he passed a couple of years ago, I've been trying to be really diligent about protecting what he worked so hard for. That's why I looked into a Platinum IRA in the first place, wanting something truly tangible.
Right now, my Platinum is with a big national name, one of the ones that always pops up in ads. They're... fine. Professional enough, but sometimes I feel like just another account number, and getting a real person on the phone who understands my specific situation in Raleigh can be a challenge. Iβm thinking about potentially switching, but I'm nervous about making the wrong move. I want a custodian who feels a bit more personal, maybe even one with local ties here in North Carolina, if thatβs even a thing for physical precious metals.
My main concern is security and ease of access if I ever needed to liquidate a portion. I don't plan on it, but you never know what life throws at you. What have your experiences been with different Platinum IRA custodians? Are there any red flags I should be looking out for? Any specific companies youβd recommend, or even warn against? I'm particularly interested in hearing from anyone who's had to deal with them for distributions or rollovers.
And on a slightly related note, I was playing around with that "Silver vs Stocks" tool on Gold IRA Blueprint (silvervsstocks.goldirablueprint.com/?period=10Y) the other day, just curious how my other precious metals were stacking up. It's interesting how those comparisons come out over different timeframes. Anyway, back to custodians β any advice for a widow in Raleigh trying to keep her husband's legacy secure?
