Hey everyone, curious if anyone else is eyeing up some portfolio rebalancing, specifically with their precious metals?

I've got about $180k in my Gold IRA right now, mostly physical gold and a good chunk of platinum. The platinum has been a pretty solid performer for me over the last few years, really happy with how it’s done. My financial advisor even suggested the platinum as a strong hedge way back when, and he hasn't been wrong yet. I'm a real estate agent down here in Miami, so my income can fluctuate, and having that security in my retirement fund is huge. I’m thinking about cashing out a small portion of the platinum’s gains and maybe rolling it into more gold or even some silver to diversify a bit more.

The thing is, with the current market volatility, it feels like a good time to lock in some profits, but I also don't want to overthink it. My goal is to build a rock-solid nest egg, and consistency is key. What are your thoughts on cashing out gains within a precious metals IRA? Has anyone here done it recently, or are you just holding steady?

Also, side note for anyone still on the fence about getting into precious metals – I stumbled across this really helpful Gold IRA Quiz a while back when I was first researching all this. It's fantastic for figuring out what type of IRA might be right for you and what metals to consider. Definitely worth five minutes of your time if you're not sure where to start. Any advice on my rebalancing dilemma would be awesome though!

Hey, that's a decent amount of platinum you've got! Good to hear it's been performing for you. When I was looking into rebalancing my own metals, I found this Investopedia article on precious metals as an investment super helpful. It has a good breakdown of different metals and typical portfolio allocations. Might give you some ideas for your next moves!

Totally! I'm in a similar boat, though not quite at your level with the platinum. I've got a decent chunk in palladium that's been doing surprisingly well for me. Might be time to trim a bit and diversify into some silver, or even a little more gold. Good luck with your rebalancing!

Interesting! You mentioned a "good chunk of platinum" in your Gold IRA. Is that a specific type of IRA that allows platinum, or did you mean in a separate account? Always thought Gold IRAs were strictly, well, gold.

Interesting post. While platinum has certainly had a pretty good run lately, I'm personally still leaning heavily into gold and silver for my IRA. Platinum's industrial demand can make it a bit more volatile, and I prefer the more consistent, long-term store of value that gold historically offers, especially during economic uncertainty.

I get the appeal of diversification within precious metals, but I tend to think of platinum as having a slightly different risk profile. Might be worth considering if you're comfortable with that swing!
