My Platinum IRA Rollover - Smooth as a Polished Ingot, Mostly

Just finished up rolling over a good chunk of my old 401k into a Platinum IRA and wanted to share my experience. Been in the steel game my whole life, so I know a thing or two about hard assets and commodities, and it always bothered me having all that retirement money just sitting in stocks and bonds, especially with all the talk about inflation these days. Decided to pull the trigger and diversify with some physical platinum.
I had about $300k sitting in an old employer's 401k that I hadn't touched since I retired a few years back. The process itself was surprisingly straightforward. I picked a custodian – did a fair bit of research on fees and storage options, being based out of Birmingham, I wanted something reliable but also accessible, even if it's just digitally. The biggest hiccup was honestly just getting the old 401k provider to send the funds over. Felt like they were dragging their feet, almost like they didn't want to let the money go. Took a couple of extra calls and some firm but polite persistence to get them moving. Once the funds were transferred to the new custodian, selecting the actual platinum was quick. I went with a mix of American Platinum Eagles and some other bars I felt good about.
My main reason for going Platinum over Gold was frankly the price point right now and future industrial demand. Gold's great, don't get me wrong, and I've got some exposure there too, but platinum just feels undervalued to me. Anyone else thinking the same way? What are your thoughts on platinum's long-term prospects compared to gold in an IRA?
Overall, I'm feeling a lot better having this platinum backed in my IRA. It feels more tangible, less ephemeral than just seeing numbers on a screen. If anyone is thinking about doing something similar, do your homework. I spent a good bit of time on different research sites, including just browsing through resources like the Learning Center at https://learn.goldirablueprint.com/?forum which had some good basic breakdowns. It made me feel like I wasn't going into this completely blind. Has anyone had any major issues with their custodians after the rollover was complete?
