Hey everyone! I’m Laura, and I’m chiming in from sunny El Paso. Been an entrepreneur on the border for a while now, and let me tell you, you see a lot of ebb and flow in economies from this vantage point. That’s why, a few years back, I started looking into ways to diversify my retirement savings beyond just stocks. My dad always talked about gold being a safe haven, and that got me thinking about a Gold IRA.
After a bunch of research, I ended up going with Augusta Precious Metals. I know there are a few big players out there, but their reviews really stood out for their customer service. And they didn't disappoint! My main contact, Sarah (I think that was her name, it’s been a bit!), walked me through everything with so much patience. I originally was leaning heavily towards gold, figured it was the classic choice, right? But after she explained the benefits of silver, especially how it often moves differently than gold and has industrial demand, I decided to allocate a good chunk of my investment to silver coins.
Specifically, I went with about $35,000 in American Silver Eagles and Canadian Silver Maple Leafs. The process was super smooth. They helped me roll over an old 401k – I’m talking about a relatively painless transfer of about $120,000 total from an old account. The paperwork felt daunting at first, but Augusta literally held my hand through every single form. The actual physical delivery to the depository (I chose Delaware Depository) was also seamless, and I got all the confirmation emails and statements promptly. It’s pretty reassuring knowing I have those tangible assets.
Now, I know some folks might stick purely with gold, and I get that. But for me, the silver felt like a smart diversification play within my precious metals portfolio. For those of you who've invested in silver coins for your IRA, what are your thoughts? Have you seen them perform as you expected? And if anyone else has gone with Augusta, what was your experience like? Always curious to hear other perspectives!
