Minimums for Gold IRA - What's a sensible floor?

Been seeing a lot of chatter lately, especially from some of the bigger players in the Gold IRA space, about "minimum investment requirements." Got me thinking about what's actually realistic for most folks looking to get into physical gold for retirement.
I started my own allocation a few years back, probably around 2018 or so, when I decided to really diversify beyond just the usual equities and bonds for my personal portfolio. At that point, I put in a significant chunk – north of $500k – into a physical Gold IRA managed by one of the custodians I already used for other alternative assets. For me, that was a pretty easy decision given the overall size of my book, but I often wonder what a sensible entry point is for someone who isn't necessarily working with a multi-million dollar portfolio like most of us in Greenwich are accustomed to. Are these $25k or $50k minimums I keep seeing actually serving the average investor, or are they more geared towards snagging the higher net worth clients?
My fund has always focused heavily on risk mitigation, and gold has consistently proven its worth as an uncorrelated asset, especially during market volatility. I'm bullish on its long-term prospects, particularly with the current global economic uncertainties. But if the entry bar is too high, it effectively shuts out a lot of people who could really benefit from that stability in their retirement planning. What are your thoughts on these minimums? Have any of you found custodians with more flexible initial investments that still offer a robust and secure service?
Also, just curious, for those of you who started with smaller amounts, did you find it difficult to scale up your holdings later on, or did the process become more streamlined once you had that initial deposit in place?
