Just added silver to my Gold IRA - diversification play or overthinking?

Finally pulled the trigger and added some silver to my Gold IRA. Been sitting on a pretty heavy gold allocation for years, probably 80%+ of my metals holdings, and honestly, the thought of diversifying within the precious metals space had been nagging at me. It's not like I don't believe in gold – far from it. My portfolio is probably still 30-40% metals even after retirement from the Street, and gold is the bedrock of that for me, always has been since 2008. But with all the talk lately about industrial demand for silver, especially with the green energy push and all those solar panels and EV components, it just felt like a smart long-term play. Plus, the gold-silver ratio has been pretty attractive.
My broker actually suggested it a few months back, saying a 70/30 gold to silver split within the metals portion of my IRA could add some interesting leverage potential. I'm a good bit more conservative than that – ended up going with closer to a 90/10 split initially. Didn't want to mess too much with a winning strategy, but I also didn't want to miss out if silver really takes off in the next five to ten years. Always trying to find that sweet spot between protecting capital and grabbing some growth, especially with inflation still being a sticky wicket here in New York.
It’s all about protecting generational wealth for me at this point. After decades of grinding on Wall Street, the last thing I want is to see my hard-earned capital eroded. Gold has always been my safe haven. Is adding silver just logical diversification, another layer of insurance against monetary debasement and geopolitical uncertainty, or am I just overthinking it and chasing potential upside that might not materialize? What's everyone else's take on silver within an IRA? Anyone else made a similar move recently? Curious to hear some other perspectives on this.
