Hey everyone, wanted to share a little wins for my Gold IRA. I’m a young professional here in Charleston, just started getting serious about retirement planning a few years ago. My total portfolio is still under $50k, but I opened a Gold IRA with like $5k three years ago after reading a bunch about how gold performs during inflation and market instability. Honestly, I didn't expect much, just wanted a small hedge.
Well, fast forward to today and that initial $5k is now sitting at almost $7k. It’s not life-changing money, I know, but it feels like a real win, especially compared to some of my other investments that have been a bit more volatile lately. Seeing that tangible growth in something I initially thought of as just "insurance" is pretty cool. It’s given me a lot more confidence in diversifying my holdings.
I know a lot of people have super strong opinions on gold either way, but for me, as someone just starting out and looking to build long-term security, it's been a surprisingly positive experience. I keep thinking about adding more now, especially with all the economic uncertainty still floating around. My goal is to eventually have about 10-15% of my portfolio in precious metals. What do you guys think about that allocation strategy as a younger investor?
