I see a lot of posts here about gold and silver, which is great, but honestly, people are sleeping on platinum. Seriously, I’m sitting on some serious gains in my Platinum IRA from Augusta Precious Metals and wanted to share my experience. I started scaling into platinum around 2016-2017, after about a decade of stacking mostly gold and some silver in physical and my regular Gold IRA.
My portfolio was already north of $5M by then, but I kept looking at the industrial demand for platinum, the supply constraints, and the historical price correlation with gold, and just felt like it was only a matter of time before it caught up. Plus, let's be real, the spread then was chef's kiss. I’ve always been an entrepreneur, so I’m used to looking for undervalued assets and taking calculated risks. This felt like one of those moments – a good way to diversify beyond just gold and silver, even within the precious metals space.
I ended up allocating about 10-15% of my total precious metals IRA to platinum during those years, mostly in 1oz coins. The growth has been phenomenal, and it's really proven to be a fantastic hedge against some of the more volatile parts of my portfolio. Living in Scottsdale, you see a lot of people chasing speculative tech or real estate, and while I have my plays there too, having that bedrock of physical precious metals, especially platinum, has been such a relief during market corrections. It’s not just about the monetary gains, it's the peace of mind knowing you’re truly diversified.
Anyone else here made a significant play in platinum or palladium within their IRA? I’m always curious to hear other people’s long-term strategies, especially those who’ve been in the game for a while. What are your thoughts on its future trajectory with EV and hydrogen tech?
