Honestly feeling pretty stoked right now and wanted to share. Been meaning to post something like this for a while. For years, it felt like my Gold IRA was just… there. It wasn't exactly making me rich overnight, and sometimes I'd even second-guess myself, especially when the stock market was doing its thing. I started setting aside a good chunk of my retirement into physical gold back in 2018 – around 300k at the time, split between some coins and bars. My financial advisor here in SLC (shout out to Sarah at Summit Gold!) was a big advocate, and frankly, I trusted her judgment.
The last few years have been wild, right? Between inflation going bananas, all the geopolitical uncertainty, and just generally feeling like the global economy is on a bit of a tightrope, I’ve been watching my gold holdings really start to shine. It wasn't a sudden explosion, but a steady, reassuring climb. While some of my other investments were getting rocked, the gold was holding strong and then some. It’s given me a huge sense of security that I really don't think I would have had otherwise.
I know gold isn't for everyone, and it definitely tested my patience during those quieter periods. There were times I thought about reallocating some of it, but I’m so glad I stuck with the long-term strategy. Seeing the current value now (conservatively, it’s up significantly from what I put in – well over 20% on that initial chunk), it just reinforces why having that diversified, tangible asset is so crucial. Especially with the way things are looking globally, I feel a lot more prepared for whatever comes next.
Anyone else feeling this way about their gold allocation lately? How long have you been holding, and what’s been your biggest takeaway?
