Finally convinced the wife about our Gold IRA – feels

Took me a good year and a half, maybe two, but I finally got my wife fully on board with the Gold IRA. We've got pretty different philosophies when it comes to investing – I'm more on the 'prepare for the worst, hope for the best' side, especially with how crazy the world feels lately, and she's always been more traditional with stocks and bonds. Our portfolio is in the upper half of the 500k-1M range, and a good chunk of that was tied up in those traditional assets. I've been eyeing diversification into precious metals for a while now, thinking about our succession planning for the logistics company here in Memphis, and how I want to protect what we've built for our kids.
Honestly, a lot of what finally clicked for her was just showing her the numbers and the historical trends, especially around inflation and market volatility. I spent a lot of time on the Learning Center, reading up on everything and just getting really comfortable with the concepts myself so I could explain it clearly. It wasn't about convincing her to ditch everything else, but more about showing her the role gold plays as a hedge and a store of value. We’re not talking about putting all our eggs in one basket, but creating a balanced approach that feels more secure for the long haul.
The turning point was probably when we sat down after reviewing some of her 401k statements and seeing how little growth there was sometimes, compared to what precious metals were doing during some of those same periods. It wasn't an "I told you so" moment, more of a shared "huh, maybe there's something to this" realization. Now we’re in the process of rolling over a portion of her previous employer’s 401k into a Gold IRA, and she’s actually excited about it. It’s a relief, honestly, to be on the same page for such a significant financial decision.
Anyone else have a similar experience with convincing a skeptical spouse? What were the key arguments or resources that finally swayed them? I’m curious if our journey was a typical one or if there are other angles I could have explored.
