Just had to share a little wins-day celebration with you all. Been holding onto a decent stack of silver coins in my Gold IRA for what feels like an eternity – seriously, going back almost 15 years now. I started this thing way back when I was still green in the bourbon world, just getting my feet wet, and honestly, it felt like a bit of a gamble at the time. My dad always swore by precious metals, said to trust tangibles over flashy tech, and while I’m not gonna lie, I dabbled a bit in the market too, I always kept a good chunk of my portfolio in metals.
Well, turns out dad knew what he was talking about. Cashed in a portion of my silver holdings today to diversify into some other assets I've been eyeing, and the gains were pretty insane. We're talking something like a 300% increase on some of the earlier coins I picked up. It wasn't the whole kit and caboodle of my ~$350k portfolio, but a significant chunk I decided to rebalance. It's wild to think about that initial investment, especially when things were tighter financially. Being able to pull that kind of profit out now, as an exec at a legacy distillery here in Lexington, really makes you appreciate the long game.
I know gold gets all the glory, and my Gold IRA is certainly heavy on it, but don't sleep on silver, folks. Especially if you're like me and appreciate things with a deep history and intrinsic value – kind of like a good aged bourbon, right? I'm curious, has anyone else recently cashed in on some of their older silver or even gold holdings and seen similar returns? What are you guys doing with your profits? Thinking of reinvesting some of it into some rare coins, but open to other ideas.
