Feeling good about my recent gold IRA move, but curious about minimums these days
- •Just did a partial rollover from my old 401k into a new Gold IRA and I gotta say, feeling pretty good about it.
- •Worked out to about $75k, maybe a little more, into physical gold.
- •The whole process was surprisingly smooth, didn't hit any snags.
Just did a partial rollover from my old 401k into a new Gold IRA and I gotta say, feeling pretty good about it. Worked out to about $75k, maybe a little more, into physical gold. As a military contractor, security is always on my mind, and the volatility we've been seeing with the stock market just isn't cutting it for my long-term peace of mind. Based out here in Jacksonville, and honestly, seeing the headlines makes me want something tangible and outside the traditional system for a chunk of my retirement.
The whole process was surprisingly smooth, didn't hit any snags. The company I went with had a minimum that I easily met, so it wasn't even a question. But it got me thinking – what are the average minimums people are seeing out there lately for Gold IRAs? I know some places used to be pretty high, like $50k+, but I've heard others mention lower entry points. Are those lower minimums just for specific types of precious metals, or are the requirements softening everywhere? Curious what experiences others have had, especially if you're looking at smaller transfers.
I used a pretty robust resource when doing my initial research, actually found this Retirement Planner tool that was super helpful for modeling out different scenarios with gold in the mix. Definitely recommend checking it out if you're trying to figure out how much to allocate. Anyway, just trying to gauge if I got in at a pretty standard rate or if I should expect those minimums to fluctuate a lot in the near future. Always good to stay informed.
What were your minimums when you opened your Gold IRA? Or if you're looking to open one, what kind of numbers are you seeing quoted?
