Eagles vs. Buffalos for Platinum IRA? My experience so far.

Alright, so I’ve been seeing a fair bit of chatter lately about which physical Platinum coins folks are preferring for their IRA, specifically the Eagles vs. the Buffalos. As someone with a decent chunk of my retirement in metals, including a healthy platinum allocation, I figured I'd throw my two cents in. My Platinum IRA is primarily American Platinum Eagles right now. When I first set it up about seven years ago, after selling off most of my commercial real estate holdings, the Eagles just felt…right. Familiarity, I suppose, and the design is classic. I wasn't really thinking much about the collector/numismatic angle for an IRA, more just about the pure metal.
However, I've been doing more research lately, and the Platinum Buffaloes are seriously catching my eye. There's something undeniably appealing about the pure .9995 platinum content compared to the .999 of the Eagles. It’s a very small difference, I know, from a practical standpoint for melting, but psychologically, for a long-term hold in an IRA, that extra purity just feels a bit more robust, less "alloyed" even if the difference is minuscule. I’m thinking about what the next generation might prefer purely for content and ease of valuation. I’ve always operated with the mindset of long-term wealth preservation, and for a seven-figure portfolio, minor differences can add up over decades.
My broker, who handles my ~3.5M metals portfolio, generally leans towards whatever is most liquid and has the tightest spread, which has historically been the Eagles for platinum. But he also acknowledges the growing interest in the Buffaloes. For you folks who've diversified into Platinum Buffaloes for your IRAs, what was the primary driver? Was it the purity, the design, or something else entirely? And have you noticed any significant difference in premiums or liquidity when buying/selling compared to the Eagles?
I’m seriously contemplating adding some Platinum Buffalos to my IRA on my next allocation push, probably around another $100k-$150k worth. Just trying to gather some more real-world experiences before I pull the trigger. Always good to hear from other folks who've been in the trenches.
