Alright, so I’m finally getting serious about rolling over a chunk of my old inheritance into a Platinum IRA. Got about $350k sitting in a brokerage account that’s just been... sitting. My financial advisor here in Spokane recommended diversification outside of just timber and real estate (shocker, I know) and pointed me towards platinum. Seems like a smart move for long-term wealth preservation, especially with all the talk about industrial demand for platinum potentially skyrocketing.
Now, here's where I'm getting hung up: Eagles or Buffalos? I know with gold I was always a sucker for the Eagles, just felt more, I don't know, American I guess. But for platinum, I'm genuinely torn. My advisor leaned slightly towards the Platinum Eagles for the government backing and recognized purity, which makes sense for an IRA. But I've been doing my own digging, and the Platinum Buffalos are just… striking. The design is incredible, and while they might not have the same long-standing recognition as the Eagles, the fact they're also 1oz .9995 fine is swaying me.
My main goal here is generational wealth and stability, not quick flips. I'm thinking 20+ years down the line for my own kids and grandkids. So, liquidity and ease of sale are important, but so is maximizing the actual platinum content and premium efficiency. Has anyone here gone with the Platinum Buffalos for their IRA? Or are most of you sticking to the tried-and-true Eagles? Is there a significant premium difference that I should be aware of when purchasing larger quantities, say, 10-ounce lots?
Appreciate any insights, especially from those who've already navigated precious metals IRAs. Just trying to make the most informed decision for this substantial chunk of my portfolio. Thanks in advance!
