Hey everyone,
Just read this article on Mining.com about silver demand, and it really got me thinking. They're talking about how "solar silver thrifting" isn't enough to curb demand, and the Silver Institute is still projecting a huge 46.3Moz deficit. As someone who's been investing for a good couple of decades now, and with my retirement goals always in the back of my mind, these kinds of supply/demand imbalances are exactly what I look for. I've seen how quickly a tight market can move prices, and silver has been looking more and more compelling lately. This constant deficit for six years straight is a serious indicator, especially with the global push for green energy and the increasing use of silver in solar panels. It makes me wonder if we're at the cusp of a much more significant price appreciation for silver than many are currently expecting.
I've got some silver exposure in my portfolio already, mainly through a couple of ETFs and some physical coins, but this article makes me consider increasing that. I’m especially looking at ways to diversify, and a Gold IRA has always been on my radar, both for gold and potentially adding silver as well. I actually stumbled across this Gold IRA Blueprint eligibility tool the other day when I was doing some research on precious metals for my IRA – it's pretty neat for figuring out if your current retirement account even qualifies. Definitely something to look into if you're thinking about adding physical metals to your retirement strategy.
What are your thoughts on this? Are you guys already holding silver, or are you considering it with news like this? Do you think the market is underestimating the persistent demand out of the solar sector? Always keen to hear what the community is thinking on these kinds of long-term trends.
